Proverbs 7:13
So she grabbed him and kissed him, and with a bold expression she said to him…
I’ve been driving Uber for about 10 years. And if you didn’t know, the front seat of an Uber car can be a kind of confessional booth. People open up. Stories spill out. And for an evangelist at heart, my car is often a church on wheels.
But what happens when a preacher picks up…a prostitute?
Yeah, once, I picked up a young lady right after her…umm…shift.
(I Didn’t know it was that kind of shift at first…I shoulda known…swanky hotel, skimpy lil’ dress…Oh well, another day…another passenger
So I gave my usual vibe-setting intro:
“Hey, how’s it going? Mrs. Paradise, right? (shoulda known w/ the name…) You headed to 222 W. 1st right? Come on in.”
As I drove, she casually mentioned she was coming off of a job. That’s when it clicked. No judgment—just curiosity.
I didn’t flinch. Just kept it chill, but you better believe I started talking about my wife & kids like I always do…(defense mechanism…you know)
I also told her I was a preacher.
That I had no judgment.
But I did have a question:
“What’s something you’ve learned about humanity in your line of work that sticks with you?”
She paused. Then dropped a line I won’t forget:
“Men are so lonely. They know what I do—but they’re willing to let go just to feel like they’re wanted. Just for a moment, they believe they’re the only one.”
That right there? That’s Proverbs 7:13 in real-time.
Scripted seduction that feels brand new to the person caught in it.
🔍 Let’s Look at the Text Deeper
Proverbs 7:13 reads like a quick play by play:
“Then she grabbed him and kissed him, and with a bold expression she said to him…”
This is a playbook— it’s not passion.
Watch how it moves:
She grabs and then…and then… She kisses…and then…She speaks.
and then…and then…and then… Right.
The pattern is ancient, but to the person caught in the moment, it feels like magic.
Like something special. Like it’s all about them.
But it’s not.
It’s practiced.
Perfected.
Repeated.
Performance.
And the real irony:
She’s numb to it.
But he’s all caught up.
Because he wants to believe that it’s real —even when it’s just a rerun with a new actor.
🎭 There’s a difference between Scripted Love vs. Sacred Love
That “and then this happened…” rhythm—it’s the heartbeat of addiction.
Chasing sensation. Jumping from scene to scene.
Stimulated but never satisfied.
Cheap love is just that noisy.
It’s full of smoke and scenes and setups.
Real love is different.
It doesn’t need to perform—it’s willing to be still.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is turn off the stimulation.
Stop flipping channels.
Stop chasing novelty.
Sit still with real love.
The kind that sees you.
That waits for you.
That doesn’t have a script—because it’s not acting.
You don’t need another scene.
You need a soul connection.
Trade in the performance for something that’s personal.
Prayer
Quiet this noise in my soul—let's savor real love.
🎯 Today’s Challenge
Pay attention to what’s pulling at your attention.
Where are you chasing stimulation instead of deep meaning?
Turn off the extra noise.
Consider what real love looks like to you.
Affirm what real love means to you.
Because you’re worth more than and then that happened.
You’re built for a love that stays.
