The Real Work, Part 3: Building a Net That Works
PROVERBS DAILY—Monday, June 9, 2025
Proverbs 9:3
She has sent out her female servants; she calls out on the highest places of the city.
Picture yourself alone, grappling with an enormous fishing net, muscles burning as you try to heave it from the water. Even as you pull, the catch thrashes—fish squirming free, tangling in the mesh, and slipping away despite your best efforts.
Now contrast that with a seasoned crew on a boat, each person grabbing a section of the net, moving in rhythm. They’re pulling something in together—and it works.
Why?
Because it's a net that works.
A network.
In Proverbs 9:3, Lady Wisdom makes her next strategic move:
She sends out her maidens.
She doesn’t try to do it all herself.
She delegates. She collaborates.
She sends trusted voices carrying her message to all the highest points of the city.
Let that sink in:
Not one location.
Not one audience.
But everywhere at once—because she chose to multiply her reach through others.
That’s the power of interdependence.
It’s not just you holding the mic.
It’s you equipping and empowering others to echo wisdom, just like you.
And the result?
Not just addition.
Multiplication.
Yesterday I lived this verse.
I had a custom ride request to take someone to an event three hours away. It was a full-day commitment—but it turned into more than just work. It became friendship. It became ministry.
But after the round trip, I was wiped.
I almost skipped a citywide youth ministry leadership meeting that evening—but something told me to go.
And I'm so glad I did.
Being in that room with other workers, sharing stories, encouragement, and strategy—it refueled me. It reminded me that this city doesn't rise on one voice or one pair of hands.
This is Proverbs 9:3 in motion.
We can’t do ministry alone.
We weren’t built for that.
The real work is shared work.
This is the wisdom of Lady Wisdom:
Knowing when to speak—and when to send.
Knowing when to carry the weight—and when to build a team.
We often think power is in the spotlight, but the real power is in the network.
Think of it like this:
Dependence says, “I need you to do it for me.”
Independence says, “I’ll do it myself.”
Interdependence says, “Let’s carry this together.”
And this verse is a masterclass in what that looks like.
Lady Wisdom builds a net that works—and her message travels farther than she ever could on her own.
Prayer
God, empower us to collaborate, building networks that multiply truth.

Lady Wisdom builds a network, not a pulpit. Funny how many modern ministers skipped that part. They preach solo from the mountaintop, then wonder why the net comes up empty.
If the Work isn’t woven together, it unravels.
